60 Days Til Black Bear

With less than 60 days until the 4th Annual Black Bear Film Festival, volunteers are greatly needed for the myriad of jobs that help to make this wonderful event possible.

Black Bear invites anyone and everyone who is interested in getting involved with the festival to attend the next Volunteer Meeting, Saturday morning at 10.30am, August 23, at the Tom Quick Inn, 411 Broad Street, Milford. No experience is needed. There will be great opportunities to work behind the scenes and meet famous filmmakers.

Last week’s "Meet the Cast" Fundraising Reception was a resounding success, raising over $2,700 for the Black Bear Film Festival. More than 125 people came to welcome the cast and crew of "Pizza", from InDigEnt Fims (Independent Digital Entertainment). In attendance were star Kylie Sparks and director Mark Christopher, although actor Ethan Embry’s plane delay prevented him from being there. He’s here in Milford now, however; the film began shooting Monday, August 18, and will continue for the next three weeks. The company is headquartered for the duration at the former Brasseria restaurant on Broad Street, and often sighted at Milford’s restaurants. Keep your eyes peeled for signs of filming, for many Milford homes and locations are part and parcel of the film.

And perhaps next year, "Pizza" will be part of the lineup of amazing films being shown at the 5th Black Bear Film Festival! "It gives me goosebumps just to think of it," said "Pizza" location manager, Julie Silverstone Deloca, who is from the Milford area.

The Black Bear Film Festival will be held in Milford October 17-19th, 2003. Tickets will go on sale in September. Watch for updates on the festival’s website, www.blackbearfilm.com.
