Black Bear Film Festival delivers "Pizza" - the Movie!
Meet the People Now Making a Movie in Milford
& Help the 4th Annual Black Bear Film Festival
On August 13, 2003, meet the cast and crew of the new film, "Pizza", being shot this summer in Milford, Pennsylvania. The town of Milford - and some of its citizens! - will soon become the location and fabric for the 16-day shoot of this independent film. Filming by InDigEnt Films (Independent Digital Entertainment) begins August 18th.
InDigEnt Films won universal acclaim last year by winning the prestigious Sundance Grand Jury Prize with its innovative movie, "Personal Velocity", which was one of the features of the 2002 Black Bear Film Festival. InDigEnt has been a pioneering force in using digital video photography for film-making, proving that there is nothing "poor" or "indigent" about the medium; Miramax has picked up distribution of one of their latest films, "Tadpole", for $5 million.
The Black Bear Film Festival invites everyone to join the filmmakers to sip cocktails, savor hors doeuvres, and chat about cinema at a reception on Wednesday evening, August 13th, at the Muir House in Milford, from 5 to 7pm, for a special Film Festival fundraiser. Be a film industry insider for a night, and discover what goes into the making of a movie - get the lowdown on which Milford locations, houses and locals will eventually be up on the silver screen.
"Pizza" is the story of a pizza delivery boy who comes with pizzas to the door of a forlorn, unattractive girl, where no one has shown up for her birthday party. He takes pity on her and the movie follows their night together delivering pizzas. Milford becomes a Midwestern town for the location.
Milford has a long and distinguished history of film-making: The pioneering director, D.W. Griffith, set several of his early movies right here, starring Lillian Gish and Mary Pickford. "Pizza" continues this cinema tradition.
